Kitchen ducting tips.
Round plastic rigid ducting provides the most optimum performance for airflow for a cooker hood or downdraft extractor. Rigid round ducting is far more effective than flexible or rectangular flat channel ducting.
If you do use flexible ducting ensure that it is taut and is as straight as possible. Keep bends to a minimum use 2 x 45º bends rather than a 90º bend, which will help airflow.
Choose the shortest and most direct route to an outside wall.
Many older instalations of ducting will have 100mm ducting fitted so installers rather than make the hole in the wall bigger simple reduce the required 150mm down to 100mm. This is not recomended, if you reduce the size of your cooker hood ducting the ducting will be noisy and you invalidate your cooker hood warranty.
For 150mm ducting you have two choices of using 150mm round ducting which has an external diameter of 153.6mm +/- 0.4mm or flat channel 220mm x 90mm which externally is that size. Please note flat channel ducting fitting fit over the channel so the size of these parts externally are bigger than the duct. Full dimensions for parts are show on the product pages for you information
